The Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Her Excellency, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, has lauded the members of Rivers Women Unite for SIM for their unwavering commitment to praying for the peace, unity, and progress of the state. Prof. Odu gave the commendation on Thursday, June 12, 2025, during the group’s weekly prayer and thanksgiving session held at the Ecumenical Center in Port Harcourt. She acknowledged that the women's spiritual devotion has played a critical role in fostering calm and promoting development, especially in challenging times. Addressing the prayer group, the Deputy Governor conveyed the appreciation of His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, stating that he remains proud of their steadfastness and deeply grateful for their support. “The Governor and I draw strength from your prayers,” she said. “Your faith and resilience have continued to inspire and uplift us.” Delivering the day’s sermon, Dr. Preye Oarhe encouraged the people of Rivers State to remain hopeful and trust in God’s divine plan. Drawing from the story of Joseph in the Bible, she reminded the congregation that trials often precede triumph and that God's purpose will ultimately prevail. Meanwhile, participants at the prayer session clarified that the gathering was not to mark Democracy Day, but rather part of their routine monthly fasting and prayer initiative, which has remained consistent even in the face of the declared state of emergency. They expressed optimism that through continued prayers, true democratic governance would be restored and Rivers State would witness renewed peace and development.
